ANOTHER CHANCE TO BEGIN TO "THINK AND GROW RICH" IN 2010: WHERE'S YOUR AIM

Greetings,

And don’t for a minute let this Book of The Revelation be out of mind. Ponder and meditate on it day and night, making sure you practice everything written in it. Then you’ll get where you’re going; then you’ll succeed. (Joshua 1:8 Message Bible)

Welcome to day three on our journey to explore the thirty-one major reasons for failure as noted in the book "Think and Grow Rich". In this issue of Let's Talk , we will discuss the lack of ambition to aim above mediocrity.

Let's start our discussion by examining a couple of questions. Can we reach the destination of success without possessing an ambitious spirit? And, do we need much ambition to be average? By exploring these two question, we hope to uncover the problem of having a lack of ambition to aim above mediocrity.

Can we reach this destination called success without possessing an ambitious spirit? At first glance the obvious answer would be no. But let's dive in a little deeper and find out why we would come to believe it's not possible. Dissect with me the meaning of ambition. The definition states, an earnest desire for some type of achievement or distinction, as power, fame, or wealth and the willingness to strive for its attainment.

It seems like we cannot begin our journey towards success if we don't first desire success. It would be like wanting to drive somewhere, but the gas tank is empty. We know where to obtain fuel, but have no desire to do what it takes to get there. The desire alone is not enough. We must be serious in our intention, purpose, and effort and we must be willing to pay the price upfront realizing that success comes with a price tag. We must be willing to sacrifice to reach our goals. If we're not willing to spend the investment, we will not reap the dividends. Success demands a certain payment. Until we pay the price, we will never exist in the realm above mediocrity.

The other question we must address is, do we need much ambition to be average? It is quite obvious it takes no effort to be average. To think we need ambition to be average is absurd. We do not need ambition to just exist. It is comfortable to just exist. That's the easy road. We are surrounded everyday by people who would be extraordinary if they would get outside of their comfort zone and learn how to apply principles to the ideas that role around in their head and make their ideas reality.

This calls for a higher level of thinking. We must want to more than just average and mediocrity cannot be an option. According to Napoleon Hill, the author of "Think and Grow Rich", we offer no hope for the person who is so indifferent as not to want to get ahead in life, and who is not willing to pay the price.

Striving for success is a road with stops along the way such as Rejection Avenue, Disappointment Blvd., and Discouragement Circle. We must be willing to travel all these streets on our journey to Success Highway. Easy Street is not along our route. This is okay because it lends itself a lesson. If we take the lessons we learn and apply it to our journey, we will not have to revisit these exact destinations again. This is not to say that we will not have rejection, disappointment, or discouragement, but we will not experience the same tests over and over again. With every new trial, we learn a new lesson and reach a new level.

Life's Lessons

I bargained with Life for a penny,
And Life would pay no more,
However I begged at evening,
When I counted my scanty store.

For Life is a just employer,
He gives you what you ask,
But once you have set the wages,
Why, you must bear the task.
I worked for a menial's hire,
Only to learn, dismayed,
That any wage I had asked of Life,
Life would have willingly paid.

None of this can be done without the understanding that we must have ambition for greatness. Ambition is the fuel we spoke of earlier. If you know what you want, and why, (a definite goal and a central purpose), ambition will keep you driving forward until you realize your expected end.

Let's remember a quote from Thomas Edison, "Opportunity is missed by most people because it is dressed in overalls and looks like work."

We should not let another opportunity pass us by because it seems we would have to do something outside of our comfort zone. Diligent work will produce a great reward. Don't be average. Step above mediocrity. Everything you need is already inside of you. Develop it and watch what is accomplished.

That’s it for this issue of Let’s Talk. Join me tomorrow when we will discuss, insufficient education. I welcome your feedback. Please leave me any comments and/or questions and let me know what’s on your mind. If you know anyone who would benefit from this information, please share this site with them.

Until next time,

God Bless
