Remember ye not the former things, neither consider the things of old. Behold, I will do a new thing; now it shall spring forth; shall ye not know it? (Isaiah 43:18-19)
Welcome to another issue of Let's Talk. We are in the beginning of our new series "Another Chance To Begin: 2010" where we are examining the thirty-one major reasons for failure as described in the book entitled "Think and Grow Rich" by Napoleon Hill.
Today, on day four, we're discussing Insufficient Education. According to Napoleon Hill, this lack can be easily rectified. "Think and Grow Rich" does not suggest that we run out and enroll in some institution of higher learning, although this is a viable choice. But rather, it explains that a lot of our self made successes were also self educated.
If we are able to acquire our desires and achieve our dreams in life without violating our fellow man, then we are considered educated. We have all heard it said, "knowledge is power." But we learn in our studying of the principles found in our text, the power is not apprehended until the knowledge is effectively applied with persistence.
This topic hits so close to home because just recently I sat with another business owner to brainstorm some ideas I was rolling around in my head about business,in particular advancing my personal business. After I brought him up to speed on where I'm aspiring to go, he told me what he heard me say.
He said he heard me speak of my lack of education in certain areas of business. He said I should start by writing it all down then develop a business plan. (This sounds like day one of our series.) He then suggested that I go to the library and read up on my topics of interest to become better educated, self educated.
After listening to my business associate and reviewing this topic, I am encouraged. This topic should teach us to explore ways of educating ourselves so we can press forth and achieve the goals we have set. We must remember, we are probably not the first person to entertain these ideas. Therefore, there is information available to us that will teach us how to succeed in our area of interest.
Once we have acquired the knowledge needed, we must then implement what we've learned. Remember, "men are paid, not merely for what they know, but more particularly for what they do with that which they know."
